Digital Camera shopping......

I know i know......

Technically this is supposed to be talking about a food blog.....

But.... before i commence documentating my j0ourney... i would need a good tool right???

Ok who am I BS-ing? I just wanna  a really good camera...

So the journey begins; looking thru tons of websites for research. Most of it was pretty ... pardon my choice of a better word: useless. However the following sites were pretty useful:

(a) Photography Life : Good for basic intros to how to work the 3 fundaments of camera: ISO, Shutter Speed & Aperture. It also provided good basic maintenance care for noobs like yours truly.

(b) Pocket Lint : Good for general introduction to the current top models.

(c) Switch Back Travel : Must say its pretty much my favourite site and kinda help me affirmed my choice of camera (more on that later)

Of cuz, I did my research on Youtube and the following Channels were highly informative:

(a) Digital Rev : Currently the most subscribed to YouTube channel for photography related videos. Love the team's humour!!!!

(b) Tony & Chelsea : Detailed Intro on how to work each major flagship of cameras. Will definitely be checking out this website on how to work my choice camera proper!!! =)

(c) Michael The Mentor : This is a pretty good summary of the different type of cameras and lens for each camera.

And...... my choice of Camera is...... *drumrolll*......

Sony AR7 II

Bought this from Cathay Photos at Marina Square; must say that they are quite professional and patient; esp with the noob questions coming from me. Main reasons for my getting of this Body is

1. Ease of carrying it around: Being the dude who always carry a huge (and heavy) bag around; I do not want to add on any more mass/weight. Also, it is not as chunky as a typical DSLR full frame to restaurants (Those just wont fit into my Hermes!)

2. Superb image quality: Being one of the few full frame camera with resolution over 40M.P; producing finer resolved details when cropped in.

3. Low Light Capability: The a7R II has a BSI (Backside illuminated) CMOS sensor which in turns helps with the significant gains in ISO performace. This will certainly help me to take pics in those poorly lit restaurants

4. Fast Autofocus: The website boast of it 399 focus points; but to a layman like me. It just means that it autofocus really fast and I do not have to wait long to focus (esp since im quite impatient)

5. Five-axis Stabilization: this simply means that the chances of getting a blurred out due to shaky hands will be reduced (or will it?)

Under Jeff's recommendation I decided to go with the Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS lens; which should suffice as a good enough daily use lens.

WIsh me luck in my journey to exploring the somewhat difficult yet interesting and most definitely expensive journey of the world of photography.
